FAQ
Diagnostics management — answered.
What lab test templates does ELLEXMED support?
ELLEXMED includes built-in structured templates for the most common lab panels: Complete Blood Count (CBC) with differential, Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP) including electrolytes and renal function, Liver Function Tests (LFT) with full hepatic enzyme panel, Thyroid Panel (TSH, T3, T4), and Urinalysis (UA). Custom test templates can be created by organization administrators for specialized or institution-specific panels.
Who can submit diagnostic results in ELLEXMED?
Only users with the 'Diagnostician' role can submit lab results. This role is purpose-built for laboratory staff or external diagnosticians who need to enter test results but should not have access to clinical visit notes, prescriptions, or AI features. Diagnosticians can only submit results for patients within their organization's scope.
How does out-of-range value detection work?
Each structured template field has a defined reference range (e.g., Haemoglobin 13.5–17.5 g/dL for adult males). When a diagnostician enters a value outside the reference range, ELLEXMED automatically flags it with a visual indicator (high/low). The flagging is automatic and does not require manual clinical interpretation by the diagnostician — it is a data-entry check, not a clinical decision.
What is the draft-to-final workflow for lab results?
Results start as drafts when first entered. Draft results are editable and visible only within the diagnostics module. Once the diagnostician marks a result as final, it becomes immutable — no further edits are possible. Final results appear immediately in the treating physician's view of the patient profile. This two-step workflow prevents accidental premature submission of incomplete data.
Where do submitted results appear for the treating physician?
Final diagnostic results are automatically visible in the patient's profile within the doctor's dashboard — in the 'Diagnostic Results' section. The doctor does not need to request results or check a separate system. Out-of-range values are highlighted in the results view to draw clinical attention.
Can the diagnostics module connect to external lab systems or instruments?
The current implementation uses manual data entry via structured templates. Direct integration with laboratory information systems (LIS), instruments, or HL7/FHIR feeds is available for Enterprise customers through custom integration work.
